CDA are thrilled to work with Islington Council, Friends of St John’s Garden and the Holborn Community Association to host a series of free gentle movement activities in St John’s Garden for 6 weeks this spring.

These sessions are open to all members of the public, and will be gentle, peaceful and mindful – no previous experience is necessary.

The gentle movement sessions have emerged from our deep collaboration with Islington Council to deliver broader biodiversity enhancements to St John’s Garden, as part of Islington and Camden Council’s joint Parks for Health Strategy. CDA and Islington Council have match funded this project, to support this green oasis at the heart of the Farringdon neighbourhood.

Our investment aims to help the garden achieve a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) designation, while facilitating planting and landscaping improvements that will enable it to contribute more meaningfully to the council’s climate targets. Meanwhile, under Parks for Health, green space investment seeks to ensure that public grounds are used, enjoyed and maintained as health assets for the whole community.

CDA’s partnership with Islington and these key community stakeholders seeks to foster place attachment in our shared green spaces: ensuring that all local residents and workers can enjoy our natural resources and take part in activities that stimulate physical and mental health.
