CDA Newsletter - May 2022

Welcome to the latest CDA Newsletter.

It's an exciting time for the Central District Alliance, as we welcome the Elizabeth line to our district. We look forward to seeing the transformative effects the line has on our district & central London as a whole.

More than ever, it's important for businesses to play an important role in creating a fairer society for all. Following the introduction of the Levelling Up & Regeneration Bill, I've shared my thoughts on how we can all contribute - read the article here.

Last week I joined a panel at Clerkenwell Design Week, on the future of London - with discussions including the return to the office and the importance of social cohesion, both of which are fundamental to CDA's work in the district and will be the focus of future projects.

CDA have also been supporting several brilliant events across our district - continue reading to find out more!

The Elizabeth line

London’s newest addition to the transport network has arrived!

In advance of the launch of the Elizabeth line, we hosted a panel discussion at Bloom Clerkenwell, with TfL and members of the Foreign Press Association. Conversations focused on the importance of the line for the district, the support it will offer businesses in the footprint and the impact it will have on the capital. Read more about the event here

We are confident that the opening of the Elizabeth line will encourage more people to return to the office and CDA are here to support them and the businesses they work for.

Where business meets community

At CDA, we consider our members to be comprised of multiple businesses within a community. We like to lead by example and as such, support our local communities across the district in partnership with a variety of organisations, including Breaking Barriers, Action Funder and Good Work Camden.

Gateway Development Plan

Central District Alliance has created the Gateway Development Plan for several areas of the district, with the goal of enhancing our public spaces. Our plan will have a particular focus on the deep cleaning of pavements, gum and graffiti removal, repainting street furniture, and more. The plan outlines practical work streams done in partnership with stakeholders such as Camden and Islington Council.

The plan reflects CDA’s overall ambition of ensuring a clean, green, and welcoming environment for visitors, residents, and employees of Holborn and Clerkenwell. A healthy public realm is essential to the achievement of a thriving, vibrant, sustainable, and attractive area that everyone can enjoy and take pride in.

The Gateway Development Plan is a project that will evolve; laying the foundations for future creative and innovative projects.

Watch this space as the plan progresses!
