CDA BID secures a new five year term

We are thrilled to announce that the Central District Alliance (CDA) Business Improvement District (BID) has been successful in its 2025 ballots and will continue to serve the areas of Holborn, Bloomsbury, St Giles, Clerkenwell & Farringdon for a further five years.

In Camden 93% of businesses voted ‘yes’ (97% by RV), whilst Islington saw a 96% ‘yes’ vote (90% by RV). This resounding endorsement demonstrates strong confidence in the future of CDA and its efforts to enhance the district.

The positive result of the ballots means we can proceed with delivering on the commitments made in our 2025-2030 Business Plan. This includes significant investment in key priorities that drive economic and social growth and enhance our environment and public spaces – keeping the areas in which we work, live, and play clean and safe and welcoming.

First established as a partnership in 2000, this successful outcome sees the CDA BID beginning its 5th term in Camden and 3rd term in Islington – making it one of London’s longest-standing and largest BIDs.

The renewal of the BID includes extended boundaries, covering new streets within Camden. This extension brings the benefits of the BID to even more businesses and communities, providing targeted improvements and strategic initiatives where they’re needed most – and reflects our commitment to creating a cohesive, vibrant district across Holborn, Bloomsbury, St Giles, Farringdon, and Clerkenwell – and beyond

Chair, Alexander Jan, commented; ‘This result is testament to the great work of the CDA and Primera teams and our delivery partners. The CDA board remains steadfast in its commitment to work collaboratively with Camden and Islington councils and City Hall.  We will continue to champion our levy payers’ priorities from street cleansing through to attracting international investment. I am delighted CDA has been given such a positive vote of confidence for another five year period.”

Chief Executive, Debbie Akehurst, commented ‘This is a fantastic result for our business community! With a strong turnout and an overwhelming ‘yes’ vote, it’s clear that our businesses are committed to driving positive change. The renewal of the BID means we can continue delivering vital support, investment, and initiatives that make our district a thriving place to work, live in and visit.’

We would like to thank our business members, stakeholders and community for their support. We are also grateful for the invaluable support of Camden and Islington Councils, whose collaboration and commitment have played a key role in shaping a thriving future for our district. As we move into this new term, we look forward to working with our businesses, both councils and our local community, through the support of our ESG programmes.

CDA would also like to thank our Board Members and Primera for their wealth of knowledge and expertise.
