Getting to know… Luis Lizaraso, CDA’s Cleaning Operative

Many people across the district will recognise Luis from his work around the area over the past five years. As a Cleaning Supervisor, he plays a vital role in keeping the CDA footprint clean and welcoming. His dedication and hard work help ensure the district looks its best every day and without his ongoing support, the area simply wouldn’t be as clean as it is today. We sat down with Luis to ask him a little about his role and tips for keeping the area clean!

Q: How long have you been with the company?
A: I have been with the company for five years. During that time, I’ve gained a lot of experience working across different areas and taking on a variety of responsibilities.

Q: What motivated you to join the role?
A: I was transferred from Victoria to the city centre to focus on deep cleaning the streets. The role appealed to me because it is hands-on and allows me to make a visible difference to the environment every day.

Q: What’s your favourite part of the role?
A: It’s hard to pick just one part, as I really enjoy all aspects of the job. I start work at six in the morning, which suits me well and I like being active throughout the day. The role involves a lot of walking, which I enjoy and every day feels different.

Q: What’s your favourite area?
A: My favourite areas to work in are the parks. I enjoy being outdoors and taking pride in keeping these spaces clean and welcoming for everyone to use.

Q: Do you have any advice you would like to give to businesses or individuals in the local area?
A: Using bins where you can, putting cigarette ends in ashtrays and flagging any issues you spot all help keep the area looking its best. If everyone does their small bit, it makes a big difference!
