Getting to know … Lucky, CDA’s Security Officer

Our Security Team are our eyes and ears, playing a crucial role in supporting safety and security between Tottenham Court Road and Barbican. This month, we sat down with one of our newest Security Officers, Lucky, to talk about his role at CDA. Q: How long have you been working with CDA?

A: Only 3 months – and I’m finding it really enjoyable working with the team 

Q: What are some challenges you face on the job? 

A: Although there are harder parts to the job, I don’t see them as challenges. Going into security, you’re aware of what might come your way, and you have to be able to step up and face any issues. It’s the same as any job really, being able to push through and learn from the harder bits.  The job can be tricky when some individuals misbehave, but these are rare circumstances, so I don’t let it affect what is normally an enjoyable job.  

Q: What are your favourite parts of the job?

A: Getting to know the area and the people here. Even though I haven’t been here for long, it feels like a second home, and the challenge of learning about and exploring the area was fun and fulfilling.  

Q: Do you have any advice for businesses or individuals in the area? 

A: If you happen to encounter any issues in the district, move on past it and try find us or a police officer, if it feels necessary. You don’t know what will escalate a situation, so it’s better to just move on and let someone trained handle it.  

Q: What’s your favourite part of the area?

A: I can’t say! I love all of it, each part of the area has so much to offer and so much to do, I don’t want to choose just one. I love exploring the whole footprint with the rest of the team and seeing how I can help.
